Fresh CCTV cameras planned at sensitive areas, new pickets to come up

Jamshedpur, June 8 : Concerned over rising cases of communal tiff, plans are being made to install CCTV cameras. The East Singhbhum district police have decided to install more CCTV (closed circuit television) cameras to increase vigil and surveillance in the city said to sensitive.

The areas identified for MunshiMohalla on Dimna Road in Mango, Mohammedan Line in Sakchi, Hanuman Mandir area on Mango-Azadnagar Road in Mango, Barinagar in Telco, Muslim Bustee in Golmuri, Block 2 at Shastrinagar, Ranikudar in Kadma, Makdampur in Parsudih, Gauri Shankar Road in Jugsalai and Dhatkidih in Bistupurthana area.

SSP Anoop Y Mathew said that during recent incidents of clash they have decided to set up new CCTV cameras. Apart from monitoring the movement of suspicious characters, the CCTVs will also help in detecting street robberies, burglaries and theft of and from motor vehicles.

He went on to add that the camera will help in easily identifying people involved in anti-social activities in the area. The police department will ensure that the large number of CCTV cameras installed to monitor traffic offences is incorporated into the new system. He went on to add that they will also set up police pickets to increase vigil.

Incidents of tensions have been so much so that the residents have started raising demand for police pickets.

“The project for installation of CCTV cameras is being worked out jointly by a private firm and the district police.

The CCTV cameras have helped to instill fear amongst the law breakers. It is also helping us to controlling traffic and identifying of trouble mongers,� noted a police official.

According to him, prior to this, the roads in important localities like Bistupur, Sakchi and Golmuriwere being given priority of the CCTV camera installation but now sensitive areas like Mango, Jugsalai and Sakchi will be covered. The camera will help in easily identifying people involved in anti-social activities in the area. The police department will ensure that the large number of CCTV cameras installed to monitor traffic offences is incorporated into the new system.

It is also a testing time for the city police in the wake of a spurt in crimes like snatching, burglary and group clashes in the city. Taking lesson from the past incidents the district administration is not ready to take any chance on the security front.
