Jamshedpur: A meeting was held between the Divisional Railway Passengers Advisory Committee (DURCC) at the DRM office. The DRM presided the meet which was conducted by the DCM. Legislator Geeta Koda attended the meet that all railway officials and DURCC members.
The Jharkhand Viklang Manch representative demanded a free parking zone for differently abled persons which was agreed upon by the DRM who assured that a notification to the effect would be issued within this week.
The representative stated that the railway was committed to ensure ease and comfort of travel for the differently abled persons. He pointed out that special coaches had been designated in trains which, however, were usually occupied mostly by RPF personnel and rail staff.
The DRM informed a special checking drive would be carried out and added that if differently abled persons found any problem during rail travel they could dial 182 and lodge their complaints.
While on the topic of height of platforms at Tatanagar and Gamharia rail stations the DRM informed that the height of the platforms would be raised shortly. Meanwhile a lift on platform No 1 was already functioning and installation work for a second one was one.
