Fourth State Level Open Master Athletics competition to be held in Jamshedpur

Annual General Meeting of Masters Athletics Association of Jharkhand concludes with key decisions

Jamshedpur, September 22: The annual general assembly meeting of the Master Athletic Association of Jharkhand was held on Sunday at the Bengal Club auditorium in Sakchi, Jamshedpur, chaired by international athlete Indrajit Singh, Life President of the Association. The meeting started with a silent tribute to Late Shanti Mukt Barla, a former international master athlete who tragically passed away in a road accident last year.

Association Secretary SK Tomar presented the annual achievements and announced that the fourth state-level master athletics meet would be held in November 2024 at JRD Sports Complex, Jamshedpur. Over a thousand master athletes are expected to participate, and members were encouraged to take part in large numbers to strengthen Jharkhand’s representation at the national level. The assembly also agreed to organize a separate cross-country race this year.

The chief guest, former Deputy Development Commissioner East Singhbhum B Maheshwari, and special guest, Sanjay Singh, Vice President of Tata Workers Union, along with former senior master athletes, were honored with bouquets. In his address, B Maheshwari praised the achievements of master athletes at the national and international levels and assured full support to strengthen the organization.

The assembly unanimously appointed international athlete trainer and former General Secretary of Bihar Athletic Association, Arif Imam, as the Chief Patron of the state organization. He was honored by Indrajit Singh with flowers and a garland.

During the meeting, athletes shared their suggestions, which were acknowledged and accepted. The program was conducted by SK Tomar, Secretary of the association, and the vote of thanks was delivered by former athlete H Ghosh.

Key contributors to the successful event included Indrajit Singh, SK Tomar, Arif Imam, Avtar Singh, Gurdev Singh, and many others, along with a large number of master male and female athletes.
