₹40-Crore Infrastructure Project Aims to Ease Congestion, Boost Connectivity
Jamshedpur: Residents of Jamshedpur can look forward to major relief from persistent traffic congestion as construction of the four-lane road from Bhuiyandih Litti Chowk to Bhilai Pahari (NH-33) and the new four-lane bridge across the Subarnarekha River gathers pace.
The ambitious infrastructure project, estimated to cost around ₹40 crore, is targeted for completion within the next year. Once operational, it is expected to reduce the traffic load on the Mango and Domuhani bridges while providing a faster and more efficient link between the city and National Highway-33.
Construction Progressing at Full Speed
Officials of the Road Construction Department said work is progressing on a war footing. Construction of the bridge piers is advancing rapidly, while several stretches of the connecting four-lane road have reached the final stage.
The executing agency is working round-the-clock to ensure timely completion of the project. Five bridge piers are already nearing completion, with continuous day-and-night construction activities underway.
Modern Design to Create a New City Landmark
Project contractor N Singh said modern engineering techniques are being used during construction to ensure durability and efficiency. The bridge will feature an attractive architectural design along with modern lighting, making it a prominent new landmark in Jamshedpur.
The project is being developed with a focus on both functionality and aesthetics, enhancing the city’s urban infrastructure.
Major Relief for Daily Commuters
At present, vehicles travelling towards Ranchi, Kolkata and NH-33 largely depend on the Mango and Domuhani bridges, resulting in severe traffic congestion during peak morning and evening hours.
After the completion of the new four-lane bridge, heavy and commercial vehicles will be able to access NH-33 directly through Bhilai Pahari, significantly reducing traffic pressure on Mango, MGM, Dimna Road and adjoining areas.
The new corridor is also expected to improve travel time for commuters and provide a smoother traffic flow across the city.
Economic Growth Expected to Get a Boost
An official said the project would not only strengthen Jamshedpur’s traffic management system but also contribute to industrial and commercial development.
Improved freight movement is expected to reduce transportation costs, save valuable travel time and create fresh investment opportunities by enhancing connectivity with key industrial and commercial corridors.
Officials Confident of Timely Completion
Road Construction Department officials expressed confidence that the project would be completed within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining high construction standards. Once completed, the four-lane road and bridge are expected to become one of Jamshedpur’s most important transport infrastructure projects, addressing the city’s growing traffic demands and supporting its future expansion.
