Ranchi: Four persons including three CRPF jawans were injured in an encounter between Maoists and paramilitary jawans near Lugu Hills under Gomia police station area of Bokaro under Giridih Parliamentary constituency on Thursday.
A civilian was also injured in the incident. Sources said a patrolling team of CRPF jawans was passing by Lugu Hills when Maoists triggered an explosion to blow up the police vehicle.
But the vehicle somehow escaped the attack. The paramilitary jawans took their positions. Maoists opened fire on the jawans who retaliated promptly.
Three CRPF jawans including one Pratap Singh were injured in the incident. They were taken to Apollo Hospital, Ranchi. Dr Sanjay Kumar, commandant of CRPF, confirmed that three jawans and a civilian were injured in the incident. The victims were taken to Ranchi in a helicopter, he said.
