Jamshedpur: An advocate and three persons were arrested in connection with the threat-SMS to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren as well as a DGP Rajeev Kumar, from Telco police station area, police said here on Friday.
The accused were arrested from Zone Number 3, Birsanagar, in Telco police station area late yesterday night, police said.
Two of the four arrested were identified as advocate Sudhir Kumar Thakur, his neighbour Gunjan Kumar, police said.
Meanwhile, police earlier released three suspects who were detained for allegedly sending threatening text messages to the CM and the DGP.
East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan police jointly launched a manhunt for the accused persons soon after the state police headquarters sent alert to all districts, especially to Kolhan districts asking them to search for the location of the SIM subscriber few days ago.
Police searched the houses of the accused persons and seized several SIM cards and other documents for investigation. Few damaged SIM cards were also reportedly seized by the police. Cops suspect that the accused persons had tried to destroy evidence of their involvement in the issuance of threat to the CM and the DGP, police said.
