Four arrested in Jamshedpur fruit trader murder case

Jamshedpur, Feb 13: Police have cracked the sensational murder case of fruit trader Kanhaiya Yadav, who was shot dead barely 200 metres from Golmuri Police Station on Wednesday.
Four accused have been arrested, and illegal firearms along with ammunition have been seized from their possession.
According to police, the arrested individuals have been identified as Sumit Kumar Singh of Namda Basti, Gurpreet Singh alias Raj alias Lole of Anand Nagar (Namda Basti), Amrik Singh alias Vicky Singh alias Khebda of Old Cable Town, and Raza Alam of Sabina Colony, all residents under Golmuri police station limits.
Two country-made pistols, seven empty cartridges, and three pellets were recovered based on the disclosures made by the accused.
The incident took place on Wednesday at Tinplate Ground under Golmuri police station area, where fruit trader Kanhaiya Yadav was shot at close range. Police rushed to the spot upon receiving information and shifted the critically injured businessman to Tata Main Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Following the incident, a case was registered at Golmuri police station on the written complaint of the deceased’s wife, Kusum Devi.
Acting on the directives of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), a special raiding team was constituted under the leadership of the City DSP. Swift action led to the arrest of the four accused involved in the crime.
Police officials stated that the murder was the result of personal enmity among the accused and the victim. Investigations have further revealed the criminal background of the arrested individuals.
Gurpreet Singh has previous cases registered at Telco and Barmamines police stations related to robbery and other offences.
Amrik Singh was booked in 2022 under charges of murder and violations of the Arms Act, while Sumit Kumar Singh also has prior criminal records.
The SSP informed that the involvement of two more individuals has surfaced during the investigation, and raids are underway to apprehend them.
The case, which had triggered panic in the Golmuri area due to its proximity to the police station, has now seen significant progress with these arrests. Further investigation is in progress.
