Four arrested with arms in Olidih shootout case

Jamshedpur, Oct. 12: Police here claimed to have arrested four criminals with arms during an anti-crime checking drive in Olidih police station area.

Senior Superintendent of police (SSP), East Singhbhum, Anup T Mathew, said the accused persons were nabbed during frisking of motorists near Olidih check post on Tuesday last afternoon.

Cops stopped a motorcycle, one Yamaha, and frisked Bittu Sharma and Rishabh Pal. A loaded pistol was reportedly found in the possession of one of the accused, the SSP said.

Later, during interrogation, the accused persons told police the names of their two accomplices, identified as Rishu Kumar Srivastava and Rajeev Mandal. The latter two were also caught with loaded arms, police said.

Cops said the four accused had confessed to their involvement in the incident of shootout in Olidih police station area recently.

“One Prashant Singh, brother of a jailed criminal Ganesh Singh, was shot at recently by Amarnath Singh and Guddu Pandey gang members. To avenge the incident, Ganesh Singh planned to kill Deepak Kumar and Nanhe Singh, associates of one Sintu Singh, near Teachers’ Colony and Moon City Sai temple,” said a senior cop.

The arms seized by cops include two country-made pistols and 15 bullets. A motorcycle and three mobile phones with SIM were also confiscated by the police.
