Ranchi, April 12: Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said that providing drinking water to the people of Jharkhand is one of the top priorities of the state government.
Directing state Drinking Water and Sanitation Department officials on supplying drinking water in a timeframe in the rural areas, the CM said the move will control diseases and malnutrition.
Das said he will lay foundation stone of a drinking water supply scheme for Santhal Pargana in Littipara on 20th April. �All formalities should be completed in advance and work should be started from the 1st week of May. The project should be prepared under the Chief Minister�s Drinking Water Supply Scheme.
After survey of all blocks of Santhal Pargana, schemes should be made to supply water. Small water supply scheme should be considered,� he said.
The CM hoped that the pipeline water supply in Ranchi and Dhanbad will be completed by December this year. At the same time, work for making 60 water tanks should be started in Ranchi. He said that slack contractors should be blacklisted and work should be allotted to new companies. He laid stress on deepening the ponds and water reservoirs.
Urban Development Minister C. P. Singh, Water Resource Minister Chandraprakash Choudhary, CS Raj Bala Verma, Principal Secretary to the CM Sanjay Kumar, Principal Secretary, Drinking Water and Sanitation A. P. Singh and Ranchi Municipal Commissioner Prashant Kumar were present at the meeting.
