Ranchi, April 10: The court has sentenced former MLA Paulus Surin to life imprisonment.
Paulus Surin has been MLA from Jharkhand Mukti Morcha twice. Former MLA Paulus Surin and PLFI militant Jetha Kachhap, convicted in a case related to the double murder 11 years ago, were sentenced to life imprisonment by the court of Judge Dinesh Kumar on Wednesday.
Besides, a fine of Rs 25,000 has also been imposed on Paulus Surin and Rs 45,000 on Jetha Kachhap.
Earlier, on April 6, 2024, the court had convicted both of them in the murder case, on the same day the former MLA was arrested and sent to jail.
On 27 November 2013, Bhushan Singh and Ram Govind Singh were murdered while both were sitting in their house. The then Torpa MLA Paulus Surin and Jetha Kachhap were accused of murder. After the murder incident, Bhushan Singh’s brother had lodged an FIR under case number 27/2013 at Karra police station in Khunti. After which the case was going on in the court.
The court had already acquitted Krishna Mahato and three female accused in this case due to lack of evidence.
PFLI supremo Dinesh Gope is also facing trial in this case. Earlier on April 6, Ranchi Court had declared former MLA Paulus Surin and Naxalite Jetha Kachhap guilty.
