Former Jharkhand CM Raghubar asks Govt to waive tax on buses

Jamshedpur: Former Chief Minister Raghubar Das has written a letter to the Chief Secretary of the state urging him to waive off the tax of buses which were closed during the COVID-19 period. Referring to the complete stoppage of buses due to nationwide lockdown during corona, he said that as per the spirit and intention of Jharkhand Motor Vehicles Taxation Act 2001 and Jharkhand Motor Vehicles Taxation Rules 2001, non-operational transport vehicles are not taxable. He has justified this request of the Jharkhand Pradesh Bus Honors Association, stating that the vehicles will be considered temporary operating from February 1 until the situation becomes normal from February 1. An order of waiving tax, free of payment, extension of payment due date should be released.
