Chaibasa/Noamundi, May 3: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda has been taking bold action against illegal mining activities in the Nuamundi region of West Singhbhum. Acting on field visits and media reports Koda uncovered the illegal theft and transportation of iron and iron slag from closed mines and crusher units, particularly in and around Nova Metals Company. The materials were allegedly being smuggled to Odisha and other regions.

Recently, six trucks loaded with illegally mined iron slag were intercepted in the Nova Metals area with the help of vigilant locals. The truck drivers failed to produce any valid documentation, exposing a clear case of illegal mining and smuggling. Koda immediately informed the police, resulting in the seizure of the trucks, and reported the matter to the district administration.

He warned that illegal mining, along with sand, timber, and narcotics smuggling, were turning West Singhbhum into a hub of unlawful trade, posing a serious threat to regional peace and security. He also criticized the silence of the Jharkhand government and administration, accusing them of ignoring the issue while public demand for reopening closed mines remained unaddressed.

Koda warned that BJP workers would launch a public agitation if immediate action was not taken.

The press conference in Chaibasa was attended by BJP leaders Sanjay Pandey, Pratap Katihar Mahato, and Jitendra Nath Ojha.
