Former Jamshedpur MP writes to CM to oppose coal industry privatisation plans of Centre

Jamshedpur, October 16: Former Jamshedpur MP and Congress Working Committee permanent invitee, Ajoy Kumar, wrote a letter to Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren requesting him to oppose the privatization of coal industry and prevent it implementation in the state.

Dr Ajoy Kumar said in the letter that BJP government may take steps for privatization of coal industry in the country and it may have adverse impact on the state of Jharkhand as Jharkhand is one of the largest producer of coal in India.

“Due to privatization of coal industry we may face problems like increase in pollution, deforestation of our forests, exploitation of our poor tribals, mismanagement of mines by private companies, increase in coal prices. Therefore the Jharkhand government should oppose the privatization of the coal industry and take steps to stop it from being implemented in Jharkhand,” the letter states.
