Forest lease given on 39.6 acres of land till Dec 2018

Jamshedpur: In East Singhbhum district, forest lease was given to 138 Scheduled Tribe members over a land of 39.6 acres of land from April 2018 to December 2018.

According to sources, Jharkhand government is running several welfare projects for the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Primitive Tribe Groups (PTGs). Traditionally ST and PTG members have been engaged in agricultural activities to earn their living. The government distributes forest lease among the tribal people and other traditional forest dwellers under Forest Rights Act.

The government also provides 35 kg food-grains to PTG members every month under the Postman scheme. Around 5357 families of East Singhbhum are benefitted under the scheme every month, sources said.
