Food safety team conduct surprise inspection at Khalsa Hotel Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: District Administration carried out a surprise inspection campaign
on Tuesday to ensure compliance with food safety standards in the city.

District Food Safety Officer Mohammad Manjar inspected Khalsa Hotel, a
popular eatery located in Sakchi. The inspection focused on critical
aspects including cleanliness, quality of food, hygiene of the
premises, and regulatory compliance.

During the visit, officials conducted a thorough review of the hotel’s
kitchen and storage areas. Special attention was given to the
condition of raw and cooked food items, the availability of clean
drinking water for customers, and the health certificates of food
handlers working in the establishment. The officer also verified the
validity of the hotel’s food safety licence and checked records
related to procurement and storage practices.

Samples of several food items—including Manchurian, fried rice, and
Gulab Jamun—were collected on the spot. These samples have been sealed
and will be sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory for detailed
analysis.

“If any of the samples are found to be substandard, adulterated, or
harmful to health in the laboratory report, appropriate legal action
will be initiated against the food business operator under the Food
Safety and Standards Act, 2006,” Food Safety Officer Manjar informed.

The inspection team also issued necessary guidelines and instructions
to the hotel management to rectify shortcomings related to sanitation,
food handling practices, and documentation. The operator was directed
to ensure strict adherence to prescribed standards to protect consumer
health.

District officials said such surprise checks will continue as part of
a regular monitoring drive to maintain food safety across eateries,
restaurants, and street food vendors in East Singhbhum. “The objective
of these inspections is to guarantee that citizens have access to pure
and safe food. Any lapses in hygiene or quality will be dealt with
firmly,” an official added.
