Fodder Scam: Ranchi CBI special court acquits 35 accused, 52 given jail terms in Doranda treasury case

Ranchi: The special court of CBI has pronounced its verdict in the fodder scam case related to Doranda treasury. CBI Special Judge Vishal Srivastava’s court has acquitted 35 accused, while 52 convicts have been sentenced to three years prison term. The verdict on others is yet to come.
It is worth mentioning that Rs 36,59,000 was withdrawn from the Doranda treasury during the tenure of Lalu Prasad Yadav as Chief Minister of undivided Bihar. D This withdrawal took place during the years 1990 to 1995. In this case, the arguments in the court of special CBI court judge Vishal Srivastava have been completed and the verdict was announced today.
During the 27-year-long trial in the Doranda treasury case, CBI Special Public Prosecutor Ravi Shankar recorded the statements of 616 witnesses. In this case, 125 accused, including the then supplier and former MLA Gulshan Lal Azmani, are currently facing trial. Sixty-two accused have died during the trial. The CBI had registered a case against a total of 192 accused in the case.
Thirty-eight accused have been public servants and eight of them are treasury officers. Eighty-six suppliers are accused in the case, including 16 women. The most important thing is that among the accused, the oldest 90-year-old District Animal Husbandry Officer Dr. Gauri Shankar Prasad is also included. Among them there are more than 12 people who are 80 years old or more.
