Jamshedpur: Police arrested five persons of a gang with looted consignments on Wednesday. The accused persons reportedly looted truck drivers on Marine Drive Road and also assaulted them.
Those arrested included Samrat Sardar, Gopu Karmakar, Akash Ghuria and Sandip Khatri. A 15 year old boy is also reportedly associated with the accused persons.
SP (City) Kartik S said Samrat Sardar was the kingpin of the gang. He was jailed in a case registered with the Bistupur police station earlier. Cops are searching for other members of the gang.
The SP said the accused persons had stolen cash worth Rs 70,000 and a mobile phone of one Prakash Yadav on 12th May last near Heritage Mall on Marine Drive.
An FIR was lodged in this connection with the Sonari police station later. Cops have recovered cash worth Rs 29,000 and a stolen mobile phone from the possession of the accused persons, the SP said.
