Jamshedpur, May 20: Nine new cases of coronavirus positives upped the total tally of Jamshedpur to 15. Two from Mango, one from Golmuri and six from Govindpur tested positive for coronavirus today. After their sample tests at MGM College Virology Department, the nine infected persons were shifted to the COVID-19 Ward of Tata Main Hospital.
Among the infected, two persons tested positive in Mango are resident of Dimna Road and had come from Mumbai while the one in Golmuri’s Tuiladungri had arrived from Bengaluru.
Mango resident from Mumbai directly went to MGM Hospital after arriving in Jamshedpur. Golmuri man also did the same after his arrival from Bengaluru.
The six infected persons at Govindpur are of the same family including husband, wife, daughter, son, daughter-in-law and 3- year-old kid. The girl along with her parents had arrived from Delhi via Rajdhani Express on May 10. After the local residents protested, the girl and her parents were admitted to MGM hospital on May 14 and sample was collected. After the reports of the three came positive on May 20 they were shifted to TMH Hospital. The other three members of the family were also admitted to TMH and their sample was taken. Late on Wednesday night the other three members of the family including a 3 year old kid also tested positive. Govindpur area is being turned into Containment and buffer zone which is the first in Jamshedpur and second in East Singhbhum district after Chakulia.
The area from Murmu clinic to Payal Ladies corner and from Gope Petrol Pump to Pragya Kendra has been turned into Containment zone after which it has been sealed. While the area from Ganesh Store to Railway crossing and from Ajay Singh’s residence to Xavier school has been made the buffer zone. Administration is looking after the persons who came in contact with the family and thier samples will be taken. Govindpur area is being sealed and sanitized
In Mango’s Dimna Road the second case is of a lady who arrived from Mumbai in the car with her husband. Her husband left for Mumbai after admitting her to MGM Hospital. She was in isolation ward when the report came in. She has now been shifted to TMH.
The health department was informed about their arrival and they were taken away to the quarantine centre at MGM Hospital. Nine new cases took tally up to 18 in Kolhan region.
So far, till the time of reporting, samples tested at the MGM College�s Department of Virology laboratory, revealed the positive cases.
The first COVID-19 case was confirmed in Jamshedpur on May 12 when a chartered accountant student, aged 24 and a female employee of a MNC, aged 28 both from Kolkata had returned home on May 8 evening on a private cab at Chakulia, around 80 km from of Jamshedpur become the first novel coronavirus positive cases to have surfaced from East Singhbhum district.
The third COVID-19 positive case was confirmed in Jamshedpur on Thursday, May 14. The third Jamshedpur patient had come to his in-laws place in Baridih, Jamshedpur from Kolkata and had been admitted to MGM Hospital in Sakchi. The Coronavirus patient was a migrant laborer and resident of Bihar who is saree trader in Kolkata.
The fourth coronavirus patient is a resident of Patamda near Jamshedpur, who arrived by the Sharamik Special train from Chennai had detrained at Ranchi Railway Station on May 13 and brought to Jamshedpur by bus by the district administration before being sent to the Mosabani quarantine centre, was tested coronavirus positive on May 15 and was shifted to Tata Main Hospital in the evening.
The fifth case was reported on May 18 when a 36-year old symptomatic man who hails from Bagunhatu under Sidgora police station had arrived on a truck upto Ranchi from Mumbai on May 15 and then availed of another truck to reach Jamshedpur tested positive.
Sixth positive came up on May 19 when a Jugsalai resident arrived in Jamshedpur via special train from New Delhi on May 15 and was taken to Loyola school for medical test. He was then admitted to Jugsalai quarantine centre. His report came positive on May 19 and now he has been shifted to COVID-19 ward of Tata Main Hospital.
Total positives in East Singhbhum now stand at 15. East Singhbhum deputy commissioner, Ravi Shanker Shukla confirmed about the detection of nine new cases.
DC urged the residents of Jamshedpur to cooperate the administration in fighting the pandemic and appealed not to move out of the home without reason.
