Ranchi, Dec. 15: Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma today directed the state officials concerned to expedite work on making six districts of the state open defecation free (ODF) by March 2017.

She said that daily development works should be planned as per the target set by the government. She asked the DCs and DDCs of Koderma, Hazaribag, Lohardaga, Khunti, Jamshedpur and Jamtara to make a list of abandoned or unused toilets, start repairing work and ensure the responsibilities of VWSCs and mukhiyas of concerned panchayats. She issued the directives while reviewing the work of toilet constructions under Swachh Bharat Mission.

She also directed the BDOs to conduct a meeting of mukhiyas at their own level and give them guidelines about their rights and duties and ensure development of the work. She said that the DCs should send letters to all the mukhiyas underlining their rights and duties under the Panchayati Raj Act and ensure their participation.

During the review, the CS directed the officials concerned to do work on mission mode in the panchayats where work progress is slow and asked to prepare work plan for estimation of everyday development of the Panchayats.
