Five arrested in Jamshedpur Firing Case, weapons seized

Dispute between children led to firing

Jamshedpur, Feb 14: `In a significant development, the police have successfully apprehended five individuals, including the main accused Vikas Tiwari, in connection with the recent firing incident on Daigutu Krishna Road under Mango police station. The arrested individuals also include Vikas’s associate Prince Singh, Sanjar Ahmed alias Arzoo from Jugsalai, Sagar Prasad, and Ankit Kumar Thakur alias Golu. However, two others, including Vikas’s brother Shubham and Atul, are still at large.

Following the arrest, law enforcement authorities recovered a country-made pistol, two live bullets, a hockey stick, and the car used in the incident. The police, under the leadership of SSP Kishore Kaushal, acted swiftly after receiving information about the firing incident on the evening of February 12.

According to SSP Kaushal, the altercation leading to the shooting was rooted in a dispute between the children of Anil and Shankar on February 10. In an attempt to establish dominance in the area, Vikas Tiwari assaulted Anil and Shankar and fired shots into the air. Vikas Tiwari, with a history of criminal activities, is currently facing multiple charges, including the Chhotu Pandit murder case, and is out on appeal bail.

The arrested individuals were caught by the police on NH when they were attempting to flee the city. During interrogation, all confessed to their involvement in the crime and admitted to the assault. The police, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining law and order, paraded the accused on foot from MGM Hospital to Jamshedpur Court, handcuffed for the public eye. Authorities clarified that their mode of transportation was necessitated by a breakdown of the police vehicle.
