Jamshedpur: Sakchi police arrested five persons for allegedly purchasing electronic appliances worth several lakh on the basis of forged identity documents.
Those arrested were identified as Karan Kumar Gupta, Ankit Choubey alias Santosh Yadav, Indrajeet Sharma alias Ranjeet Sharma, Sujay Dutta and Jaspreet Singh.
Police said the accused persons forged the identity document of one Brihaspati Das of Gamharia by pasting a different photograph on it and getting the electronic appliances financed in his name without his knowledge. The victim came to know about the fraud when he was contacted by the company officials for payment of his loan dues.
The accused persons had purchased AC, LED TVs, laptop, washing machine, printer and other consumer goods on the basis of the forged documents, cops said.
