Ranchi, May 29: Agriculture Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey inaugurated the Jharkhand Matsya Mahotsav-2025 organized at Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium in Khelgaon on Thursday.
The objective of this festival is to promote the fisheries sector and encourage the fishermen.
The agriculture minister said that the fisheries sector is the priority of the government. The department is committed to take this sector forward in an organized manner. The fisheries sector in Jharkhand has grown by 40 percent in the last few years, which is an encouraging sign.
Financial assistance was distributed to empower the newly formed fisheries cooperatives under the PM-MKSSY scheme. The purpose of financial assistance is to encourage the fishermen and solve their problems.
The minister interacted with the fishermen and claimed to have compiled their suggestions. Their positive and visionary suggestions will be included in policy making.
She said that the department is working towards solving the problems and challenges of fish farmers through formulation of policies and better selection of schemes. Organizing this festival is expected to increase fisheries production and Jharkhand will move towards a new direction in the fisheries sector.
