First phase poll campaign ends today

Ranchi: Election campaign for the first phase of Lok Sabha election will come to an end tomorrow from 4 pm onwards.

The deadline for election campaign as fixed by the Election Commission for the four Lok Sabha seats of Chatra, Koderma, Lohardagga and Palamu is 8th April. Votes will be cast on 10th April from 7 am till 4 pm.

Preparations for the polls have been completed. There will be a total of 57,17,273 voters who will decide the fate of 62 candidates in fray from these seats.

There are 22 Assembly constituencies covered under the four Parliamentary constituencies.

Security arrangements have been beefed up for the polls. Besides state police force, 170 companies of paramilitary jawans will be pressed into service during election. Helicopters will be used to monitor progress of polls in sensitive areas.
