First Phase of Training Programme for Polling Officers in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024, the first phase of training for Presiding Officers and Polling Officers has been successfully completed at Co-operative College, Jamshedpur. The five-day training program concluded with a visit from District Election Officer,  Ananya Mittal, and Deputy Development Commissioner,  Manish Kumar, who inspected the proceedings and emphasized the critical role of each officer on voting day.

The training program, conducted in two shifts over five days, saw a total of 10,972 trainees, including first, second, and third polling officers, along with presiding officers, receiving comprehensive instruction. The officials were trained extensively on the operation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Voter Verified Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs), and all procedures related to voting.

District Election Officer,  Ananya Mittal, stressed the importance of thorough training in ensuring error-free and efficient election processes. He directed the trainees to pay close attention to the instructions provided by master trainers and to seek clarification on any doubts they may have.  Mittal highlighted the crucial responsibilities of presiding officers and polling officers on polling day, urging them to fully understand and execute their duties.

The training sessions were meticulously planned, covering all aspects of election procedures, including EVM and VVPAT operations, through detailed presentations and practical demonstrations. Trainees were provided with comprehensive guides outlining their roles and responsibilities during the electoral process.

In attendance during the training program were ADM (SOR),  Mahendra Kumar, DCLR Ghatshila,  Neet Nikhil Surin, Assistant Director of Panchayati Raj, Dr. Rajnikant Mishra, and District Public Relations Officer,  Panchanan Oraon, among others.

The successful completion of the first phase of training underscores the commitment of election officials and personnel to conduct free, fair, and transparent elections. With thorough preparation and adherence to protocols, the electoral process is poised to uphold the democratic values of the nation.
