Jamshedpur, Sep 18: In Gandhi Maidan, Mango, amidst emotions of elation visible on the faces of pilgrims waiting for their turn to board flights to Saudi Arabia, Haj pilgrims said they would pray for peace in Jamshedpur, riot hit regions of UP and the whole country.
The first batch of pilgrims left for Ranchi from Gandhi Maidan in Mango on Tuesday where they boarded the flight to Haj from Birsa Munda Airport on Wednesday.
The flight will directly go to Jedda from Ranchi airport. .
The Jharkhand Haj committee has set up a camp near the new terminal building. Pilgrims have to check in at the temporary office after immigration and other formalities.
All the Haj pilgrims have been asked to be present at the terminal building four hours ahead of the flight’s scheduled departure. Officials at Haj committee said 3,366 pilgrims are scheduled to take off from Ranchi airport between September 15 and 26. A total of 2022 males and 1344 females comprise the total number of pilgrims who have come from across the state.
The oldest and most sacred ritual of Islam, Haj is a required observance among every able-bodied Muslim who can financially afford the trip.
