Jamshedpur: Police here on Saturday lodged an FIR against 17 identified and 1200 unidentified persons in connection with the lynching of three youths by an irate mob in Nagadih village.
The FIR was registered on the complaint of Uttam Verma, a kin of one of the deceased, and the officer in-charge of Bagbera PS.
Those accused of the organizing killing by the mob include the Mukhiya of Nagadih Rajaram Hansda, gram pradhan Bhishm Sardar, Babu Sardar, Dara Mandal, Ganesh Mandal, Jeepa Hansda, Gopal Hansda, Surendra Mardi, Sunil Sardar, Subhash Hansda, Doctor Mardi, Gulab Sardar, Ledra Murmu, Rajesh Tudu, Jagat Mardi and Rahul Sardar.
Uttam told police he had gone to Nagadih around 8.45 pm on Thursday last with his brother Vikas Verma. Over 100 armed villagers were holding meeting in Nagadih.
They stopped Uttam’s bike and sought his identity card. When Vikas reached the spot with his friends, parents and grandmother, the Mukhiya and the gram pradhan ordered killing of Vikas and two others.
A mob of hundreds of people attacked the victims, Uttam told police.
