Jamshedpur, August 19: Due to the burning of the motor of the filter plant of Bagbera Housing Colony Water Supply Scheme on Friday, the water supply in 1140 houses was stopped. Due to the shutdown of water supply, people are facing problems.
Subodh Jha, a social worker said that every one or two months the motor of the filter plant gets burnt due to which people have to face problems. Not only this, the water supplied from the filter plant is not potable. Several agitations were done for this. Every time the assurance given by the government fails.
After continuous agitation, the government has allocated Rs 1,88,69,710 for the new filter plant of the water supply scheme to Bagbeda Housing Colony to get rid of these problems and provide pure drinking water to the people of the colony.
However, the work has not been started till now, while the outgoing executive engineer J.S Horo had given a written affidavit to the Deputy Commissioner that he will provide pure drinking water to the people by completing the construction of the new filter plant in 15 months.

He was transferred last month. Due to which the work of the filter plant again got stuck.
In this regard, Sumit Kumar, Executive Engineer of Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, said that the motor has been sent for repairing, water supply will be started as soon as the motor is fixed.
He told that the map of the new filter plant has been prepared. Work will start in a week. The work of the filter plant will be completed within the stipulated time.
