Film Institute should be opened in Jharkhand: Karthik S

Jamshedpur, August 25: Santhali film festival kicked off amid fanfare at Milanee hall in Bistupur on Monday August 25.

The festival which also showcases several regional language films was inaugurated by City SP Karthik S in presence of Chief of Tata Steel Tribal Cultural Centre, Biren Bhutta, Digambar Hansda, Anil Oraon and others.

All the guests garlanded the portrait of Pandit Raghunath Murmu after which the festival was opened. All India Santhali Film Association organizes the festival every year.

Addressing the gathering Karthik S. said, dance, songs and music portray out rich culture and we should have options for upkeep of our culture so that it can survive.

He also defended the question of opening a film institute in the state. Biren Bhutta in his speech appealed the organizers of the festival to give it an international recognition so that the whole world comes to know about the rich heritage of Jharkhand.

The event was hosted by Surendra Tudu while Digambar Hansda extended the vote of thanks. The festival will continue till August 29 while it will end on Aug 30 with prize distribution.

It may be noted that all together 13 Santhali and regional films will be showcased in Bistupur Milanee Hall, Karandih Disom Jaher and Kadma Jaher Than were Santhali, Bangla, Ho, Nagpuri and other films will be showcased.

The final day of the festival will be on August 30 were prizes will be distributed at Gopal Maidan were Chief Minister Hemant Soren will be the Chief guest
