Fee hike controversy in Jamshedpur schools sees no formal complaints

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur: Despite growing public outrage over fee hikes and forced book purchases by private schools, the Jamshedpur District Education Department reports it has not received a single written complaint.

District Education Superintendent Ashish Kumar Pandey confirmed, “We’ve heard informal complaints through various channels, but without a written grievance, we cannot initiate action.”

The department has appealed to parents to submit formal letters if they believe schools are violating norms. “The names of complainants and their children will be kept confidential. There should be no fear of repercussions,” Pandey reassured.

The department is empowered to impose fines of up to Rs50,000 or even cancel a school’s recognition if irregularities are proven. However, without documentation, investigations cannot proceed.

Unless parents come forward, the issue remains unresolved despite widespread discontent.
