Feast of St. Francis Xavier at XITE Gamharia

Jamshedpur: XITE Gamharia (Autonomous) celebrated the Feast of St. Francis Xavier, its patron saint, on Monday, with great devotion and cultural enthusiasm. The event, an annual tradition, paid homage to the legacy of St. Francis Xavier and inspired the XITE community to embody his values of faith, service, and compassion.

The celebration was meticulously organized by Assistant Prof. Akinchan Xaxa, with support from Assistant Professor Dr. Radha Mahali, under the guidance of the faculty and staff. Distinguished guests, including Dr. (Fr.) E. A. Francis, SJ, Dr. (Fr.) Mukti Clarence, SJ, and Br. Amal Raj, along with all professors and students, graced the occasion.

The program began with a ceremonial welcome for the priests, followed by a reflective prayer service led by BA English 1st Year students. A soulful prayer dance by the 1st Year students set a reverent tone for the event. Dr. (Fr.) E. A. Francis, SJ, delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the values of humility, service, and faith exemplified by St. Francis Xavier. He encouraged students to follow in the saint’s footsteps by contributing positively to society.

The cultural segment showcased the vibrant talents of XITE students. Aparna from BBA 1st Semester mesmerized the audience with a semi-classical dance, while Babli and her group energized the atmosphere with a dynamic Bollywood dance. Sreshtha from BA Economics 1st Semester captivated everyone with her melodious solo performance. The 1st Year girls presented a beautiful Nepali dance celebrating cultural diversity, and the hostel boys concluded the event with a high-energy dance that brought the audience to their feet.
