Jamshedpur, March 11: Sonari police on Wednesday arrested externed criminal ‘Chatni Don’ alias Priya Singh following a domestic violence incident.
Her husband, Pawan Yadav, was also taken into police custody in connection with the same case.
According to police sources, the incident came to light after a violent altercation broke out between Priya Singh and her husband at their residence in the Sonari locality.
On receiving information about the dispute, a police team rushed to the spot and brought both individuals to the police station for questioning.
Police officials said that Priya Singh already has a criminal record and had earlier been declared tadipar (externed) from the area due to her alleged involvement in various criminal activities.
Police said that both Priya Singh and Pawan Yadav are being interrogated separately to ascertain the exact sequence of events leading to the altercation.
Statements from nearby residents are also being recorded as part of the investigation.
The Sonari police said further legal action will be taken after the completion of questioning and preliminary investigation. For now, both individuals remain in custody as the matter is being examined in detail.
