Experts urge strong safety practices for MSMEs at CII Jharkhand Meet

Two-Day Conference in Jamshedpur Brings Together Experts, Industry Leaders, and Over 1,000 Participants

CII Jharkhand Safety Talk 2025 Highlights Importance of Safety Culture and MSME Empowerment

Jamshedpur, Nov 1: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Jharkhand organized a two-day conference and exhibition titled CII Jharkhand Safety Talk 2025 on October 31 and November 1 in Jamshedpur. The event witnessed active participation from more than 300 delegates and over 800 visitors, creating a robust platform for discussions on enhancing workplace safety across industries.

The conference featured multiple sessions focusing on key aspects of safety management, emerging technologies, and behavioral change. Eminent speakers and industry leaders shared insights on building a culture of safety, adopting advanced safety strategies, and ensuring the well-being of workers in both large enterprises and MSMEs.

MSME Leaders Roundtable: Safety Priorities for MSMEs

One of the key sessions, Safety Priorities for MSMEs, emphasized that safety must be an integral part of every business process rather than a mere compliance requirement. The session focused on the role of subject matter experts in helping micro, small, and medium enterprises create safer and more efficient operations.

Speakers underlined the importance of designing risk-free workflows, conducting regular safety audits, and ensuring the proper maintenance of equipment and safety measures. They also discussed the significance of continuous employee training and emergency preparedness.

Eminent speakers included Tapas Sahu, CEO & MD, Highco Engineers Pvt Ltd; Biswajit Jena, Associate Vice President, RSB Transmissions (I) Ltd; Amarjeet Singh, Partner, Abreast Engineering Company; and Rajjeev Shukla, Partner, Himalaya Enterprises. They stressed that collaboration and knowledge sharing are essential for empowering MSMEs to integrate safety into their growth strategies.

Next Horizons: Safety Strategy for Large Enterprises

Another highlight session, Next Horizons: Safety Strategy for Large Enterprises, explored the challenges and opportunities faced by big organizations in promoting workplace safety. Speakers noted that large enterprises must balance productivity with safety priorities, emphasizing that leadership commitment is key.

It was discussed that leaders must “walk the talk” by embedding safety into corporate culture and leading by example. Effective safety management, they said, begins with leadership that places human life and well-being above all operational goals.

Prominent speakers for this session were Ujjal Chakraborti, EIC – Tinplate Division, Tata Steel Ltd; Suresh Kumar, GM – Safety, SSO, SAIL; and Abhijit Ain Das, Head – Safety (Generation), Tata Power Company Ltd.

Securing Industry: Countering Cyber Threats and Fraud

The session on Securing Industry: Countering Cyber Threats and Fraud in Business and Production was led by Mansoor Ahmad, Director – Outreach (East), Online Programs & Cyber Safety, Subharti Group of Universities. He spoke about the rising threat of cybercrime amid rapid digital transformation, stressing that awareness and education are crucial defenses against online fraud.

He shared his experience of entering the cybersecurity field after attending a global hacker conference and highlighted how cyber frauds—such as fake scholarships and phishing scams—pose greater risks than traditional cybercrime. Ahmad called for stronger digital safety training in organizations and schools to build cyber resilience.

Road Safety Awareness

In the Road Safety Awareness session, speakers focused on behavioral change as a core element of accident prevention. They emphasized that nearly 80% of road accidents are caused by human error rather than infrastructure issues.

The session urged individuals to follow basic safety habits, such as wearing seatbelts and adhering to traffic rules, to reduce accidents. Speakers also highlighted how advanced technologies like AI are being used in vehicles for driver fatigue detection and real-time alerts to prevent mishaps.

Speakers included Neeraj Sinha, Chief – Safety, Tata Steel Ltd; Udit Verma, Head Safety – Road and Rail, Tata Steel Ltd; and Jehaan A. Kotwal, Director, Good Mind Pvt Ltd.

Zero Incident Mindset: The Process Safety Way

In the session Zero Incident Mindset: The Process Safety Way, Dave Bright, Coach and Advisor at DB Coaching Solutions, discussed the importance of a proactive, prevention-based approach to safety. He emphasized robust process safety principles, sound system design, and operational discipline as key to avoiding major industrial accidents.

Bright underlined that achieving a “zero incident” culture requires continuous awareness, accountability, and commitment from every level of the organization.

Collective Vision for a Safer Future

Over the two days, CII Jharkhand Safety Talk 2025 became a melting pot of ideas and best practices for fostering safer workplaces. The discussions reinforced that safety is not just a responsibility but a shared value that drives sustainable industrial growth.

The event concluded with a strong message of collaboration among industries, government bodies, and communities—aiming for a safer, smarter, and more responsible Jharkhand.
