Experts to share thoughts on future of logistics industry, skill gaps

Jamshedpur, April 5: Economic reforms and Government initiatives in terms of strengthening the manufacturing sector in India calls for a boost in the entire logistics services. Consequently managing Logistics efficiently to reduce Costs, improve Delivery Performances and Customer Satisfaction is increasingly becoming a topic of interest among the Indian Supply Chain Managers.

Keeping this in mind, Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM), Jamshedpur Branch is organizing Eastern Regional Conference on ‘Indian Logistics – Enabler to Industrial Growth’ at Telco Club on April 6.

The conference is well timed and will provide excellent platform to understand the basics of Logistics in India, to discuss & debate the pros & cons of the recent developments of logistics services in India and deliberate on the contemporary knowledge on the advancement that Indian Logistics services is undergoing in present times, said, KM Bhardwaj, VP, IIMM Eastern Region.

Addressing a press conference at Centre for Excellence on Thursday, Bhardwaj, informed that the conference will also deliberate the “Skill gaps in the Logistics Sector” and suggest the Way forward.

He further said that the 1 Day Conference shall be inaugurated by A.B. Lall, Head, Manufacturing, Tata Motors in presence of senior officers of Tata Motors, Tata Steel, TSPDL and other industries from small, medium and large organisation in and around Jamshedpur.

The key note speaker at the conference will be G.K.Singh, National President Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM) along with Prof. Dr. T A S Vijayaraghavan a specialist in Supply Chain Management, Amitava Bakshi Chief Procurement Officer Tata Steel and Dr. Rabi N Padhi.
