Experts brainstorm on Modern Methods of Chemical Analysis at NML

Jamshedpur : A three day seminar cum workshop on Modern Methods of Chemical Analysis- Future Trends
(MMCA-2013) kicked off at CSIR-NML auditorium.

The event has been jointly organised by CSIRNational Metallurgical Laboratory in association with Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research (AMD), Hyderabad.

The primary objective of this event is to bring the fraternity of Analytical chemists from industry and academia in the same platform for exchange and dissemination of ideas and to provide “touch and feel” exposure of sophisticated analytical facilities.

Chief Guest of the inaugural function Dr. Vijay Sharma, Jt. Managing Director, Usha Martin, Jamshedpur remarked,”The advancement in Analytical tools has saved time in production units.

It helps in obtaining results faster and more accurate and this ultimately leads to an increase in the production of the desired sample.” While welcoming the gathering Dr. S. Bhattacharjee, Head, Analytical Chemistry of CSIR-NML said, “The main aim of the MMCA is to bring together scientists, technologists and industries in a common platform for a better exchange of their knowledge and experience.”

Dr. Bhattacharjee also mentioned about the detailed technical sessions to be held during November 20-22, 2013. Dr. S. Prakash, Officiating Director, NML mentioned the seminar will broadly focus on Importance of conventional analytical chemistry, analytical geochemistry and data interpretation, sample preparation, separation & preconcentration, laboratory accreditation for better prod- uct realization and traceability, etc.

P.S. Parihar, Director, AMD, Hyderabad said,”Analytical chemistry is the backbone of any scientific research. Our aim should be towards clean and green analysis so that less is the utilization of chemicals, more value added research and ultimately should be beneficial to the environment”.

In this context, Parihar also cited NML’s work on standard reference materials. Later Parihar released the souvenir of MMCA-2013. On this occasion, a special edition of Indian Journal of Chemical Society containing selected articles of the MMCA-2013 was brought out which was released by the Chief Guest.
