Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner cum Returning Officer Amit Kumar Friday said the 53 km long human chain was formed today in the city with the view to spread awareness among voters and motivate them to use their right to vote. The event was organized to ensure participation of each and every voter in the election process and to strengthen the democracy thereby, he said.
Also present on the occasion, SSP Anoop Birtharay said it was a historic day for the city since such a long human chain was formed for the first time. All adult citizens should come out of their houses and vote on 12th May to ensure success of the electoral process, he said.
The SSP said the district administration had made elaborate security arrangements for free and fair polling at Jamshedpur seat. He said there would be adequate number of police personnel on deputation at every booth.
