Ex-minister Yogendra Sao may be produced in court tomorrow

Ranchi: Former state agriculture minister Yogendra Sao may be produced before a Hazaribagh court on 8th October in connection with the case of his alleged links with Naxalites.

A Hazaribagh court had issued arrest warrant against Sao on 14th September last in this case. Sao resigned from his post on 12th September last after his alleged links with Jharkhand Tigers Group, an ultra-Leftist outlawed organization, following the interrogation of the outfit’s kingpin Rajkumar Gupta.

Gupta had told police Sao had founded and funded the organization which had also extorted levy from various businessmen and contractors in the state.

Sao was admitted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) yesterday late evening after he was brought here by a special CID team all the way from New Delhi.

Sao was arrested in New Delhi. He had claimed to be suffering from ache in ears and stomach on being brought to Ranchi airport. He was admitted to the cottage number 14 of RIMS. Security was tightened around the cottage. Visitors are being kept away from the minister’s room, sources said.

CID officials intimated the court about Sao’s arresting and health condition. Meanwhile, Sao’s wife Nirmala Devi and son Sumit Sao today alleged in a press conference that the former minister was being implicated in the case.

They said the Chief Minister had assured to order a CID probe into the incident. But so far police continue to interfere into the incident. They also demanded removal of Hazaribagh SP Manoj Kaushik.
