Every area of Jharkhand to get irrigation facility and water in next 2 years: CM

Ranchi: Summoning people to conserve water, forest and land, Chief Minister Raghuabr Das said that in the next two years, every area of the state should be covered with irrigation and drinking water.

Drinking water should be supplied through pipeline and barrage making, pipeline coverage and water network should be completed at the same time. Mr. Das said that people should be connected with schemes and where land is required for pipeline coverage, landlords should be directly contacted.

Reviewing the Swarn Rekha multipurpose schemes, the CM said that unproductive schemes should be stopped. Water tariff on big industries should be disposed. Industries which have not started their work should be given 1 month notice and water allotment should be cancelled. Companies wanting to start industries should be given water connection.

Water Resource Principal Sec Sukhdeo Singh said that in the next 2 years, the expenditure of the dept. has doubled. Instead of an average 700 cr. expenditure, Rs. 1544 cr. was expensed in 2016-17. There are 102 schemes under major and medium irrigation schemes which have been divided into 30 sections. Out of the 34 schemes taken from 2015-17, 16 are on tender level and work has been started on 18. 24 DPR are ready and 14 are being prepared. These will irrigate 136.28 hectare land.

Singh said that 562 schemes are there on minor irrigation scheme and 121 have been completed. The remaining will be completed by the next year. After their completion, 30,832 hectare land will be irrigated. 1343 new schemes have been started with the expenditure of Rs 931.38 crore rupees. 340 have been completed.

Double Irrigation Scheme, Saraikela (cost Rs. 90 crore) will be started from July. Garhwa �Palamu Son Pipeline scheme (cost Rs. 984.29 crore) , Kanhar Irrigation Scheme Garhwa (cost Rs. 1903 crore) Budhai Reservoir scheme Deoghar (cost Rs. 1520.87 crore), Tardiha Veer scheme (cost Rs. 11.86 crore), Saiedpur Veer scheme (cost Rs. 11.37 crore) will be started soon.

Galudih barrage and Kanaal project have been completed and water is supplied to the last point.

Water Resource Minister Chandra Prakash Choudhary, CS Raj Bala Verma, Additinoal CS Amit Khare, Industry Secretary Sunil Kumar Barnwal and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
