Jamshedpur: Railway passengers may soon avail the facility of escalators at the Tatanagar station from the second week of June this year.
The work of installation of escalator at platform number 1 started here on Saturday. Installation work is about to get over at platform number 2.
Sources said the department had set a target of finishing the installation work in December last year. Lifts are also being installed at the station. The work is underway at a fast pace and is about to be finished within the deadline set by the authorities, sources said.
Railway has declared Tatanagar as a Grade A station. After the declaration, passenger amenities are being enhanced at the station. Special attention is being paid to cleanliness at the railway platforms.
Tatanagar is an importation junction in South Eastern Railway zone. Its improvement is top on the list of priorities of the Railways.
