Jamshedpur, Nov. 3: Ensemble-Valhalla started off with the Inauguration Ceremony as Suresh Tripathi (VP, Human Resources), and Bushen Raina (XLRI Alumnus) graced the occasion, and lit the ceremonial lamp, invoking the blessings of the almighty.
Tripathi said, as he took the students through how they can make the most out of their time at XLRI, and encouraged everyone to participate whole heartedly in all aspects of the fest. His comments and nuggets of wisdom were very well received by the students.
There was a multitude of events running simultaneously, with the first event being “The General Quiz”. Major Chandrakant Nair was the quizmaster for this, which left even the most experienced quizzers puzzled.
Day 1 of EV 18 also saw the first leg of The Next Gen Leader final round, which saw the 8 finalists from B- Schools such as IIM Calcutta and NMIMS, testing their business acumen in a challenging, yet fun-filled way. To cap off the management events, Helios had the finalists test their mettle in the domain of Operations.
As is the case every year, the Chill Zone saw the students having fun at the various activities organised. Combined with “Melting Pot”- the food street at EV, the entire Old Hostel area was transformed into a hub for enjoying and merry-making.
The sports events started with the teams from XLRI and IIFT-Kolkata battling it out on the football pitch. As the day progressed, the contingents engaged in a battle for supremacy in Table Tennis, Cricket, Athletics, and Basketball, and the XLRI contingent was dominant among all.
Various committees and student councils came together to conduct Day 1 of the fest along with the organizing team, with help from multiple sponsors, truly incorporating the theme- Rewind, Repeat, Relive. As the day progressed and the events started winding up, the atmosphere slowly shifted to what everyone had been waiting for: the comedy night by Vipul Goyal.
