Jamshedpur : The angling competition was held at the scenic Jubilee Lake at Jubilee Park as part of the JRD Tata Fishing Competition.
The Jamshedpur Angling Club. The fish lovers from Odisha and West Bengal also participated. This annual event is patronized by anglers from all over the country to mark the birth anniversary of J.R.D. Tata.
Japanese company Shimano sponsored the event. The event was flagged off by Capt. Dhananjay Mishra, general manager of Jusco.
About 30 -odd anglers from Ghatshila, Kolkata, Kharagpur, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and Jamshedpur participated at the Jayanti Sarovar in Jubilee Park. Jamshedpur Angling Club (JAC) secretary Geoffrey Bonjour said that weather coupled with Eid has played spoilsport to the competition. � The participation was low this time but the enthusiasm was palatable�.
Established in 1947, Jamshedpur Angling Club now has 162 members. Jusco has recently undertaken beautification projects of lakes at Jubilee Park, Beldih and Bara Flats near Sidhgora.
�We also release fingerlings in the lakes during the month of July and August. This way fish of different classes are found in abundance in city lakes,� added another official.
