Tata Steel organises SHE Excellence Awards 2024

Jamshedpur, November 20: The prestigious SHE Excellence Awards celebrated its fifth edition with the theme, “Embrace, Evolve, Excel” at the Archery Ground, JRD Tata Sports Complex.

Established with a commitment to fostering a fair and just workplace, emphasizing responsibility and accountability, Tata Steel introduced the SHE Excellence Awards in FY20. The awards were conceived to provide a platform for acknowledging and motivating employees who exemplify dedication and leadership in the realms of Safety, Health, and Environment. This initiative underscores Tata Steel’s dedication to recognizing and nurturing the pivotal role employees play as leaders in upholding these essential values.

The Chief Guest on the occasion was TV Narendran, CEO & Managing Director Tata Steel. Narendran underscored the company’s responsibility to ensure the safety of every individual. Celebrating the commendable work done by many, in his keynote address, he emphasized the importance of ensuring safety as a core value demonstrated through actions. He emphasized everyone to embrace challenges, evolve responsibly, and excel in creating a positive impact on people and planet.

Rajiv Mangal, Vice President Safety, Health & Sustainability emphasized Tata Steel’s evolution into a multi-faceted organization with a strong focus on safety as a core value. He highlighted the importance of personal accountability, a culture of care, and achieving zero harm. Tata Steel has set ambitious sustainability goals aiming for net zero by 2045 & becoming a benchmark in safety and environmental standards.

Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, President Tata Workers’ Union, highlighted increasing standards in each edition of the SHE Excellence Awards. Recognizing the crucial role of vendor partners, especially supervisors and workers at the grassroots level, he emphasized the significance of involving them in the reward and recognition initiatives, contributing to a more inclusive approach at the operational level.

The event witnessed performances by The Great Indian Choir, blending Indian classical, retro hits, and chart- toppers into a vibrant musical journey by Prakash Wadekar & Arti Wara.

A noteworthy stride in inclusivity, SHE Excellence Awards 2024 now includes runner-up awards to motivate continuous improvements in safety and environmental performance.

A tribute to Ratan N Tata, acknowledging his exemplary leadership and values, was one of the event’s highlights, inspiring everyone to uphold ethical and sustainable practices.
