Ensemble-Valhalla to organise Flea Market to help NGO�s to spread awareness on their campaigns


XLRI’s four-day annual fest begins today, Ex-Sebi chairman to be chief guest

Jamshedpur, Nov. 15: Ensemble-Valhalla, the annual management, sports and cultural fest of XLRI, that starts from Thursday for the first time will be having a Flea Market, a concept where the intention is to create a shared platform wherein NGOs will be engaged to display their products such as handicrafts, candles, cards and so on, for creating awareness for their campaigns.
The Future Leaders Program (FLP) is XLRI�s annual event that aims to foster and cultivate the budding leadership qualities of India�s youth. Designed for school students and extended this year to include Undergraduates as well, the program opens a window for future leaders to get a glimpse of XLRI and B-school life. The motive is to create awareness and provide a head start when it comes to different fields and options available.
With the theme being �Melange of Ideas�, the fest is sure to provide a wholesome experience with the gates being open for all this weekend.
With a range of events from its flagship �The Next Gen Leader� to various functional flagships sponsored by leading organizations, the management wing is directed towards testing the leadership, management and analytical skills of the participants. The sports and cultural wing of the fest, brings in contingents from throughout the country as they take part in events such as dance, drama, battle of bands and debate along with various sports and games events against fierce competition.
As the events wind up late evening each day, the line-up of pro-shows has already created a buzz about what is in-store. The Indian Jam Project will be performing on the 16th of November followed by Biswa Kalyan Rath�s stand-up comedy on the 17th. The traditional Band Night of XLRI will witness Spunk and Naalayak on the 18th with the final evening on 19th being taken over by the performance of Sachin-Jigar.
The fest will be inaugurated on Thursday, 16th November at 9 am in presence of M. Damodaran, Ex-Sebi Chairman as Chief Guest; Fr. E. Abraham S.J., Director, XLRI; Dr. Ashis K Pani, Dean (Academics), XLRI; Fr. Jerome Cutinha, S.J., Dean (Administration & Finance), XLRI & Fr. Antony Uvari, S.J. Associate Dean (Student Affairs & Admn), XLRI
Inauguration will be followed by Idea Summit Talk where M. Damodaran and Arun Nagpal will be the summit speakers.
Damodaran is an ex-Chairman of SEBI, UTI and IDBI and is also the founder Chairperson of EEPL (Excellence Enablers Private Limited) that specializes in corporate governance consultancy. When it comes to the area of B-schools, he is the founder Chairman of IIM Trichy and has also recently started an initiative for Non-Executive Directors for collaborative learning through NEDICT, an exclusive forum.
Arun Nagpal, an IIM C alumnus, is a co-founder of the Mrida group- A Social Business venture that specializes in developing sustainability oriented business models. Mrida group is engaged in areas such as solar micro grids to provide energy to remote villages and on cultivation of high-value corps in rural areas. As a consultant, he has previously been associated with brands such as HUL and United Nations Food & Agriculture Organization, which only builds on his credibility of providing an overall necessary perspective on the current scenario and the way ahead.
Ensemble-Valhalla, the annual management, sports and cultural fest of XLRI, is the first merger in the history of XLRI, adding a new perspective to its traditional management festival Ensemble and the sports-cum-cultural festival, Valhalla. It promises to be bigger and better than ever this year as the campus prepares in full throttle to welcome India�s top B-schools and colleges for the 4-day fest from November 16th to 19th. For the students at XLRI, the amalgamation means coming together of the best aspects of the B-school life, staying true to the theme of the Melange of Ideas.
