Encroachments in Parsudih areas removed, villagers protest at Police Station

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, March 9: Encroached government land around Sadar Hospital in Khasmahal under Parsudih police station was removed on Tuesday following orders to the effect given to encroachers on Monday.

The district administration along with heavy forces reached the site of encroachment and announcements over the microphone were made directing encroachers to lift their encroachments.  CO Amit Srivastav, OCs of Jugsalai, Parsudih, Sundernagar and Bagbera police stations were present at the spot. QRT forces had also been called in.

The administration had to face protests from villagers at the site but that did not prove to be a poser as encroachments continued to be removed. Police personnel were seen removing wires, ropes and bamboo poles used for demarcating plots from the encroached government land. It was noticed that small huts had come up overnight on the encroached land. Bulldozers were put into service to flatten the huts and other constructions that had been put up by the encroachers. A while later, the villagers organized a sit-in outside the police station premises. On hearing of this development, the ADM (L&O) and SDO also reached the place.

Circle Officer (CO) Amit Srivastav said, “The villagers had fallen prey to rumors that the government had ordered free distribution of land and so they started encroachment of government land, demarcating plots in the process. The encroachments have been removed but those villagers who are adopting a defiant stand, will have legal proceedings initiated against them. We are also trying to locate the rumor monger who made the false announcement on Monday. Strict action has been contemplated against that person.”
