Empowering Minorities and Tribals: One-Day Human Rights Training Programme at Karim City College

Jamshedpur: In a collaborative effort between Karim City College, the Department of Political Science, and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in New Delhi, a one-day training program was successfully conducted at Karim City College’s auditorium on March 6, 2024. The focus of the program was on raising awareness about the human rights of minorities and tribals in Jharkhand.
Key Participants: Chief Guest: Dr. Rajendra Bharti, Registrar, Kolhan University, Chaibasa
Resource Person: Prof. Mohammad Ayub, Dean Humanities and Head of the University Urdu Department, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi.
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Sonali Singh, Assistant Professor, Post Graduate Department of Political Science, Jamshedpur Mahila University.
Convenor: Dr. Anwar Shahab, Head of the Department of Political Science, Karim City College.
The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the distinguished guests. Dr. Mohammad Riaz, Principal of Karim City College and Organizing Secretary, extended a warm welcome to the guests, emphasizing the constitutional protection afforded to the rights and freedoms of every Indian citizen.
During the inaugural address, Registrar Dr. Rajendra Bharti highlighted the cultural foundation of human life and its significance. Subsequent sessions featured discussions on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, community development, and constitutional rights awareness for minorities and tribals.
The program’s objectives, presented by Dr. Anwar Shahab, aimed at making minorities and tribals aware of their rights and fostering respect as enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
The concluding session saw Dr. Rajendra Bharti addressing the gathering, emphasizing the importance of culture for societal integration, particularly concerning minority citizens and tribals. The event concluded with vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Tanveer Jamal Kazmi, acknowledging the collaborative efforts of the organizing institutions.
