Jamshedpur, Sep 26: Brahmananda Narayana Hospital successfully performed an emergency angioplasty, saving the life of 67-year-old Karu Nandan Pathak from Chaibasa, West Singhbhum. Pathak was admitted with severe chest pain and difficulty breathing after visiting local doctors without finding relief. Referred by friends, he sought help at the hospital’s cardiology department.
Upon arrival, cardiologist Dr. Ajay Kumar Agarwal and his team conducted an ECG, which revealed a critical heart condition. A coronary angiography showed significant blockages in two of Pathak’s three coronary arteries. Understanding the urgency, the medical team proceeded with an immediate angioplasty to open the blocked arteries.
Dr. Agarwal highlighted the importance of timely intervention in heart attacks, stating, “Time is critical in such cases. Patients treated within the early hours of a heart attack have a much better chance of survival.” He further emphasized that many patients delay seeking help, which worsens their condition.
Following the successful procedure, Pathak’s condition stabilized, and he was discharged two days later in good health. The hospital’s Facility Director commented on their commitment to providing comprehensive care, saying, “We are equipped to handle medical emergencies efficiently, ensuring the well-being of our patients through swift and coordinated care.”
