Chandil: Wild elephants struck again in Ichagarh police station area in the wee hours of Sunday when they destroyed several houses in Lavkundi village and ate up paddy kept inside.
The Rabi crop of Nitai Mahato was also destroyed by the elephants in Salukdih village. The house of one Kartik Oraon was razed down by the beasts in Kutam village.
The elephants finished 10 quintals of paddy kept in the house. The forest ranger of Chandil CN Tripathy said a squad had been set up to drive away elephants from the local villages.
