Seraikela, Oct 7: A herd of wild elephants created a ruckus in Govindpur village of Seraikela block on Wednesday evening.
As the tuskers went berserk, an auto driver named Chandan Dey, a resident of Govindpur village, went out for work with his auto but as soon as he saw a herd of elephants at a distance, he left the auto after saving his life and escaped from there. The herd of elephants completely damaged the guard in front of the auto. At the same time, the elephants completely ruined the crops planted by the farmers of the village. At the same time, the farmers demanded the forest department to pay compensation for the damage done by the elephants at the earliest and take the herd of elephants towards the forest. JMM Panchayat President Rajan Murmu also informed the Forest Department about it.After receiving information about the arrival of about 14 wild elephants in Govindpur, Forester in-charge Sunil Kumar Mahato, who arrived with the team on the spot, said that the team with the help of the villagers a team has been to the spot.
