Jamshedpur : Days after polling in Jamshedpur, election fever took a jump as the counting was held at Jamshedpur Co-operative College (JCC).
Deputy Commissioner-cum-district returning officer Amitabh Kaushal ensured smooth conduct of the counting exercise.
The counting for six constituencies in the district, Bahragora, Ghatshila, Potka, Jamshedpur East, Jamshedpur West and Jugsalai took place at Jamshedpur Co-operative College.
Meanwhile, in every nook and corner of the city the discussions are on full swing over the fate of contestants in fray for Assembly. People braved the chill in the morning in spite of the dense fog.
The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) made arrangements at the Chamber Bhawan in Bistupur to witness the results live on television today. Members of the SCCI watched television together.
“The results are full of surprises. We never expected Arjun Munda to lose from Kharswan. Also look at Babulal Marandi, the state’s first chief minister lost from both the seats– Rajdhanwar and Giridih.
Former deputy chief minister Sudesh Mahto also lost. We are happy that a party can easily form a government with an aim to develop the state,” said Suresh Sonthalia, president, SCCI.
Industrialists of Kolhan belonging to rich industrial districts of East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela Kharswan are pinning hopes on the formation of new Government in the State.
The industrial areas like Adityapur, Ghamharia, Kandra and Chandil have been reeling under bad infrastructure like poor roads, lack of bridges, water and erratic power supply. The entrepreneurs are hopeful that the newly formed Government would work for their betterment.
S K Singhal, a city based entrepreneur, said that State government should immediate work on a rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) policy to help the industry acquire land smoothly. Besides, the Government should also process mining licences for raw materials such as iron ore and coal, key to steel making.
Officials of Adityapur Small Industries Association informed that a delegation would soon meet the new CM to update him with issues concerning the industrial sector.
Suresh Sonthalia, a lso said that power and roads are some of the important issues concerning the industrial area. At a time when most of the units are facing the slump steps need to be taken to improve the overall situation in the Singhbhum districts.
