Jamshedpur, Nov 7: Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Returning Officer of East Singhbhum Ravi Shankar Shukla Thursday convened a meeting with the representatives of various political parties to discuss about issues related to accounting of election expenses. He appealed to the participants to comply with the Model Code of Conduct in letter and spirit. He said the Election Commission of India had made it mandatory for all candidates to keep proper account of their election related expenses and make the same available to the district administration for monitoring purpose.
Shukla said an expenditure limit of Rs 28 lakh had been set for every candidate in the Assembly elections. For every Assembly constituency, an expenditure observer has been deputed along with eight assistant expenditure observers, he said.
The DC said several teams would also monitor the expenses of candidates through various sources and methods. He said applications for holding rallies and public meetings may be sent to the district administration for permission through Suvidha App. No political office will be allowed within 200 metres of polling booths.
Political parties were informed that getting any publicity material certified is must during the elections. A booklet was also distributed among the representatives of political parties.
