Jamshedpur : In view of Assembly polls, the Election Commission of India, (ECI) has worked mechanism to bring transparency in the election expenditure of the candidates.
If the ECI’s push succeeds, candidate expenditures will be scrutinised on a scale and with an intensity never before seen. There will be more video footage shot of individual poll campaigns than ever before.
Video Surveillance Team (VST) will move with the candidates to keep track of all his canvassing movements in the constituency. The district administration of East Singhbhum has intensified preparations for the upcoming elections.
Officials informed that ateam of one election expenditure observer and six assistant observers Assembly constituency wise along with flying squad teams at police station level will be deployed to keep vigil on candidates’ expenditure in the election.
Copies of the voters list would be printed for distribution among the political parties and for completing various official formalities. The list would be made available on CD. The district officials informed that a list of officers and employees from Central and State depart-ments would be prepared be deployed on election duties.
Officials further went on to inform that the process to identify the sensitive polling booths is also on. Apart from identifying the naxal infested areas, procedure is on to identify those booths where the communication system is not available. Adetail report of security personnel required have also been prepared by the police administration.
On the directive of East Singhbhum deputy commissioner-cum-district electoral officer Amitabh Kaushal flying squads team conducted checking at vehicles and even two wheelers bearing party flags.The surprise check was carried out on Subernarekha Link Road, Straight Mile Road, Kalimati Road etc.
It may be mentioned that all the 18 flying squads (three each in six assembly constituencies of Baharagora, Ghatshila, Jamshedpur East, Jamshedpur West, Jugsalai and Potka) have been asked to carryout inspection on important roads.
“The flying squads have been directed to seize vehicles of political candidates found in violation of model code of conduct. A maximum of five vehicles are allowed with each candidates during campaigning and that too after permission of district administration.
Any vehicle found without permission with candidates would be seized immediately,” said deputy commissioner Amitabh Kaushal. The three-member flying constituted earlier this month comprises a magistrate rank official, a police official and police personnel.
